We normally meet in the Sycamore on a Monday evening, 7 pm to about 9 and Charlie’s café on a Wednesday morning, 10 am to 12 ish. However, because we are busy with a big project we are occasionally meeting in one of our houses, so please ring Pat on 01656 659106 just to check . We also have a day in the village hall once a month, the next one is November 10. We meet from 10 am to 4 pm. Everyone is welcome to come along, or part of the day. Tea and coffee is provided, please bring your own lunch. There is a small charge usually £3. Visitors are welcome to work on our new project or bring their own work if they prefer. We will be pleased to welcome new people.

Whilst the village was enjoying one of the best summers in many years, the Craft Ladies in Colwinston (CLIC) group were already planning for the cold days of winter ahead. With a hot sun shining down, we were very busy with a project to knit hats and scarves to help keep people who are homeless warm in the coming winter.

Many balls of wool and a lot of tea and coffee later, the group achieved an amazing total of knitting 69 beautiful woollen bobble hats together with 39 lovely scarves, including 19 matching hat and scarf sets. The finished items included a rainbow of colours, styles for both men and woman and a variety of sizes to suit everyone. They were all delivered in October to  the Salvation Army in Cardiff, who have since been handing the items out to homeless people in Cardiff city centre.

A HUGE thanks to everyone who contributed their time, skills, wool and encouragement to the project. A big thank you also to Rob and Sian at Charlie’s café for keeping the thirsty knitters going every Wednesday morning.

The CLIC group is already busy with the next exciting project which is due to be completed in spring 2019. If you would like to find out more about this or would like be involved then please contact Pat at Cherry Cottage.
