St Michael's Church held the annual Tree Lighting service on Friday December 1st. A packed congregation heard readings and prayers and then went outside. Rev'd Alan blessed the tree and everyone counted down for the switch on. After the Children's choir sang Silent Night everyone walked to the Village Green where that tree was blessed and illuminated. Then it was on to the Sycamore Tree where the children sang Away in a Manger and the Occasional choir sang 2 pieces, Candle in the Window and While Shepherds Watched. Grateful thanks to the Community Council especially Christine Roach, for purchasing the trees and delivering them. To Ray Farthing for erecting the Churchyard tree and John & Julie Lloyd for decorating the Village Green Tree. Also to all who helped to decorate the Christmas trees inside the church which were also switched on after the service.

The Lessons and Carols will be on Sunday December 10th at 6pm when the Occasional Choir will sing their full programme.

The Children's Choir can be heard at the Crib Service on December 17th at 9.30am when all children are invited to come along to help assemble the Christmas Crib.

On Christmas Eve there will be a celebration of Midnight Mass at 11.30pm

Rev'd Alan Kettle and the Church Wardens look forward to seeing you at any of these service and wish everyone a very Happy and Peaceful

Posada is Spanish for Inn and during Advent the Posada bag with models of Mary, Joseph and the Donkey will be travelling around Colwinston looking for somewhere to stay, just as they did over 2000 years ago on their journey to Bethlehem from Nazareth. Please take them in and enjoy looking through the bag. Take photos or make drawings and put them in the file. Mary, Joseph and the Donkey will then return to Church on December 17th to be part of the Crib Service. For any further information please contact Kath Jones 01656 648515
