About the village

Located on the edge of a shallow valley in the Vale of Glamorgan, Colwinston was first settled in prehistoric times. It lies just off the 'Golden Mile' part of the Roman road to the west coast and has a 12th century Norman church. One of only three Thankful Villages in Wales after the First World War, it has the bizarre local New Years Day custom of Collyball and Agatha Christie was a regular visitor, basing her book The Hollow on local folklore.
